ABOUT THE INGENUITY PROJECT
For almost 20 years, the Ingenuity Project (a 501c3 nonprofit) has worked in collaboration with the
Baltimore City Public School System to provide gifted and advanced students in grades 6-12 with an
accelerated, and challenging math, science, and research program. Ingenuity serves over 550 Baltimore
City students in three middle schools (Mount Royal, Roland Park, and Hamilton) and a high school program
at Baltimore Polytechnic Institute.
Our mission is to produce the next generation of diverse
STEM leaders from Baltimore City Public Schools.
Students enter the program through an application and testing process. Ingenuity accepts gifted and
advanced students with a strong interest in math and science. Ingenuity holds high expectations for
student achievement. Students are given many opportunities for enrichment and tailored support.
Our program provides small class sizes in math and has a track record of demonstrated achievement gains
that exceeds national averages.
One hallmark of the high school program is the three-year research curriculum in which students conduct
independent research with partnering institutions, such as Johns Hopkins Medical Institution, Johns
Hopkins Applied Physics Lab, the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center, and the Carnegie
Institution of Science. Under the mentorship of leading scientists and engineers, Ingenuity students
conduct research and submit that research to regional and national competitions. In Ingenuity?s history,
