Position Summary : Working from our office in Baltimore (Inner Harbor East), the Accessibility Associate is responsible for working on the accessibility team to revise curriculum and resources to meet Section 508 standards and WCAG 2.0 AA guidelines. This includes reviewing existing curriculum, participating in a process for updating curriculum and resources, revising curriculum assets, and participating in training on accessibility guidelines and implementation of those guidelines. Effective communication with the Curriculum and Instruction management team, curriculum specialists and managers, editors, and the Senior Director of Curriculum Development is essential. Candidates with knowledge of Section 508 standards and WCAG 2.0 guidelines should apply. Responsibilities : Review accessibility of existing curriculum assets; Prioritize course revisions based on accessibility review; Follow process and protocols for revising assets to meet WCAG 2.0 guidelines; Adhere to best practices and Section 508 standards and WCAG 2.0 AA guidelines; Self-monitor adherence to accessibility guidelines and standards; Participate in professional development to stay current on accessibility practices and protocols; Work with various teams of specialists, associates, and editors to develop a consistently accessible academic program; Provide support to team members; Other duties as assigned Bachelor's degree in education, special education, or related field Minimum of three (3) years of experience with K12 education Knowledge of accessibility guidelines Demonstrated successful experience working with cross-departmental teams Must enjoy a challenging work environment that requires flexibility, self-direction, creativity, and strong communication skills Technologically proficient (especially with Microsoft Office programs) Excellent organizational and follow through skills Detail-oriented Ability to effectively meet deadlines Must be able to work independently and as part of a team
